Individual Performance Enhancement in Sport
Individual Performance Enhancement in Sport
Individual performance enhancement services can be useful for many types of sport performers, including athletes, coaches, and officials/referees.
How It Works
After assessing your mental skills and preparation, I design an individualized training program to build targeted mental skills and remove performance blocks. Sessions generally last one hour and are held one-on-one and in-person. At times coaches and family members may participate, and sessions may be held by phone or videoconference.
Techniques may include:
- goal setting
- relaxation training
- imagery
- mindfulness training
- self-talk
- communication skills
- biofeedback, and
- EMDR-PEP (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing-Performance Enhancement Psychology).
Individual Counseling
Individual Counseling
Chronic and distressing life or relationship problems or difficulty coping with stress and challenges can impair performance, daily functioning, and mental well-being. At these times, more comprehensive services may be helpful.
I may provide individual and/or family therapy to:
- remove obstacles to more optimal functioning
- treat mental health disorders
- relieve symptoms
- teach coping skills, and/or
- build awareness of harmful patterns of thinking and behaving.
Sport-related issues might include:
- coping with injury and loss
- dealing with abuse and bullying
- career transition, and
- transitioning out of sports.
Performance Enhancement in the Performing Arts & Business
Performance Enhancement in the Performing Arts & Business
Actors, Dancers, Musicians and other performers can benefit from the same methods that improve performance in athletes. Training in mental fitness can similarly enhance performance of executives and business people.
